Update 1:Hello once again, it's been quite some time that I have written something here in DA. In fact, much of my online activities haven been severely reduced due to the fact that I am currently engaged in an internship - a university attachment program to a company - so that means that I have absolutely no way to comment, +fav or even give constructive Critique, much less even submit my own proper Deviations and Journals.
Which brings me to this question: to my fellow watchers, what kinds of things do you want me to comment on? Example: maybe you might like me to comment more on your journals or more on your deviations. So if you have a suggestion, please insert it here.
At the mean time, I am also currently consolidating my DA activity, and see which people should I kick out from my Watch list, so that I can comment better and manage easier on your nice artworks and interesting journals.
However, I can't make promises here as I have said, I am very tied down with real0life commitments - especially the high demands placed by my university, in particular my attachment program and my studies. But that does not mean that I would "close shop" here.
What this means is that I am already trying my best to keep you folks entertained. But main thing is that I have important things to attend to first, so DA becomes secondary. Unfortunately. So forgive me.
And now for the 2nd update.
Update 2:To all DA subscribers, do you really think that a DA subscription is REALLY worth all its money? Do you think that I should consider continuation of subscription to DA services?
I do have an opinion about using DA as a tool to upload comics and artwork. First off, with the subscription, you don't get to see ads. So that helps to life off some burden off the system resources used in my primitive computer.
Another thing is that it is really helpful to view more than 24 thumbnails at once if you are using Browse. But thing is:
- I find the current deviations submitted to DA, and particular the Popular Deviations, to be EXTREMELY BORING. I seem to find the artwork to be "same old, same old". I mean, I USED TO like DA as a place where you can view new cool artworks and stuff. But currently, nothing in DA EVER interest s me anymore. Sure, it's skilled work and full of effort, etc. But thing is I am still WILDLY UNIMPRESSED by the content and meaning of the deviations I see online. Maybe I should top commenting on people's works and star +fav-ing only those that I *truly* love. I don't care about who you are, what status you hold, but if it is a work that I CONNECT psychologically and spiritually, consider yourself my friend. Otherwise, well, better luck next time.
- I don't have all the time in this world to view every *relevant* deviation out there. I mean, I do like generally (A) Cartoons and Comics (B) Digital Art - Paint/Drawing or quite a small extent (C) Anthro (General works only), and to a lesser extent (D) Fanart (General works only). But I find the apparent lack of creative juice flowing here to be quite a depressing experience. I think primarily because it's gotta do with the current economy where people don't have the money to spurge on new art materials and draw more things. But if you disagree with me, AT LEAST say WHY and not just keep quiet. Jerks... >:C
So my question is: do you think it's worth to pay a certain sum of money just to Browse through 160 thumbnails at one go, fully knowing that you are likely to skip 99% of the artworks you see online? Come on, answers, please...
My other question is: other than Browsing through 160 thumbnails, having Journal Skins blah blah blah, create your own Polls blah blah, is a DA subscription really "worth the buck"? Would you join another art community website if they were to give you these same tools but FOR FREE?
Update 3:What kind of artworks do you generally like?
Perhaps you can share with me some of your favorite GENRES or TYPES of art you particularly like, and say why.
Also, if you do like SPECIFIC themes used in deviations (eg) Robots and post-apocalyptic settings, also please feel free to insert your reasons why you like such and such here.
Main reason why I am gathering such answers, is so that I can plan on what to draw or paint next.
Currently my plans are as follows:
* Art trades: 3 from DA, 1 from outside DA
* SFU Man comics: 2 (see here:
[link]
)
* Other comics: 1
* Cartoon-style works: Unaccountable and perhaps too many >:C
So please write your comments here, I appreciate them.
Last Update:I see that I don't update my journals as often as I used to, say around 2008, where I do write a lot of crap on recent new events that take place locally and blah blah blah.
So my question is: how often do you update your journal in DA? Or do you prefer another journal system? (eg) Livejournal or Blogger or something-else
Any recommendations of other journal/blogging services would also be appreciated, as I am experimenting with new ways to write journals and maintain updates.
Wish you a safe week ahead.
Peace out

I.L
Devious Comments
Of course matter of perspective; some thinks it's worth it.
I have this friend of mine where he never buy a subscription before; all his subscriptions is either through competitions or donations. He's a fantastic artist.

As for subscriptions well, let's just say that I don't have a sub as the only use I find for subs is polls
Art types? well, no particular preference.
I update my journal erratically. Approximately once a week.

No, I paid it because I want more viewers to be honest... more viewers, it motivates me to go forward with my drawings.

Because of my current financial situation, I can't justify paying it on my own anymore. But I do like no ads, I do like journal skins and most importantly, I do like the polls. The polls have been extremely helpful for me. Figuring out how much one would pay for a printed comic, what people like so I can come up with commission specials... Sure I can do polls through other sites for free and post them on my site, but those for whatever reason don't get the same response as here.
Browsing multiple thumbnails is nice, but it's one of the features of DA I rarely use. I would miss the polls most, then the skins and then the ads. You can always install an as blocker into your browser to make those go away.

My webcomic, up and running for over 3 years now! GINPU.US
Ehhh...I would say commenting on both journals and artwork works well for me as what you guys always say is taken into account.
I believe that in reading & looking at people's journal & artwork helps understand the person better. ;3
And...I did remove a few "dead" people from my watch list. No updates totally and no improvements. I have more reasons to do so. Kinda personal till some extend (if you'd want to know we can chat it out
Don't worry, we'll be always here to wait for you to update some neafty pieces of artworks.
I agree with what
Re Update 2:
I...don't subscibe.
Re Update 3:
As for me, anything goes. Plus point for unique styles and the mood of the artworks.
Ahhh~Robots X3 It depends though, any kind of robot goes but I'm watching for how much details are added and the colouring style. If there was a scene to show the surroundings of the robot would be like WOAH!
About styles, I personally like the way you present your characters you drew, even the one you did on msn. X3 those are extremely adorable and unique to me. <3
Re Last Update:
Ahhh...I update only once every 4 months...I suppose you can say that. Even I myself am not sure what to write for journals unless I'm seeking help and advices from you guys.
LJ / Blogging seems both good as far as I have seen. But for some really good blogs they have constant updates and also they seem to only update on one specific theme. Like..anime, everything is about anime or robots, then people will start to follow and comment more. Themetic blog.
That's all I'd like to say ill.

Your avatar is the icon that shows up beside any comments, deviations and news articles you post on deviantART. Your current avatar is shown on the right.
If you find the arts boring, perhaps you are in a 'tired' condition. Too tired to even appreciate arts. From what you write, looks like the internship is really exhausting.
I don't have a sub. Because i have more important things to spend my money on. Subbie just means that you have more options to enjoy DA. But we can enjoy the primary function of DA without subbie right.?
Hmm, The SFU-Man sounds really interesting. I like a humor that came from extremely non-sensible conditions.
Oh, and Don't forget your 100-themed drawing. They're funny too.
As for journals, i only updated them whenever i have something to share.

Hmmm.. I don't think I really have any favourite genres- except maybe action...I would have to say my favourite sorts of works are ones which provoke some sort of emotional response and use colour cleverly. Also images with dynamic poses or ones that tell part of a story and provoke the viewer's imagination. Well.. that probably wasn't very helpful XD.
