May Day and Hoo-ray
May DayWell, just in case if you're wondering what happened to me for the past one month and why I didn't update my DA account with new deviations and new journals, it's due to the fact that I was busy with university coursework. Exams, reports, and other commitments. And that includes me attempting to find internship in Singapore.
Now that all of my reports are already submitted and my exams are completed, the only next best thing that I can do is to pray for the best outcome possible.
PrioritiesToday's 2nd May 2009. May Day is on 1st May 2009, which was yesterday. Times flies, doens't it? Commitments to work... real-life commitments and obligations. These are things that would eat time into something I would preferably do to my own. Like reading up self improvement books. Or take a course on AJAX, Oracle, J2EE, PHP and other programming courses.
Worthiness in DANow that I have one major obstacles moved out of my way, let's sit down, and talk something about deviantART. Let's sit down, talk about what I am doing in DA, and looking back at whether over the years is my stay in DA worthwhile, or should I "jump ship".
From the way I see how DA has developed, I am both happy and disappointed at the same time at how DA has changed over these years.
There are many things in DA that still won't change.
Assholes are still assholes. Dickwads with that sense of self-righteousness are still thinking highly of themselves, and failed to respect other people. It doesn't matter if you're in the commercial art scene or doing art for personal reason; the fact remains that you don't go upfront to a person and randomly scream, "I AM BETTER THAN YOU!" This is also the same reason why:
A) Singaporean "pioneer" artists never truly succeed, and even if they did, they probably die out too soon.
B) The more popular "anthro" artists out there think too highly of themselves, and when they are challenged to draw something other than "anthro", they stumble, and quickly act defensively. Bad move.
C) Senior DA members are hard to come by. "Good" seniors, are even harder to come by nowadays. And the only way to come by becoming "recognised" here is to talk to the Administrators... ...
... and suck hard. Nice.
DA taking a DAumpThere are some things worth mentioning as lessons in DA that must be taken "as it is" and never to be questioned. Here's some of them:
1) Never feed the Gallery Mods. Because they will bite off your hand if you feed them. Be it, a DD suggestion, or trying to be "nice" with them. Particularly, if you are feeding the Anthro mods. Because they can't appreciate your "help" at all.
2) Don't use dAMN. Because there's always MSN Live.
3) Photoshop is your good friend. Piracy is better.
4) Furfaggotry doesn't pay. SRSLY!
5) Anthro art - contrary to DA guidelines, which aren't even guidelines to begin with - is NOT a CATEGORY of art. Period. It's just a THEME of art, that many people seem to misunderstand. One side of the coin, you get FAGGOTRY - the fetish side. On the other side, you get AIR-PICK-WIND. Not to be confused with EPIC WIN, because the anthro art fandom must always LAUGH AT THEMSELVES. Lulzy Lozerz. Hah~!
6) The Internet is full of LULZ. Deal with it.
7) The first thing you must do to a new deviant is to say "Hi!", run away, pray that he/she watches you, and then you watch back that bugger. Yay! Watch +1. After that, you un-watch that person, because you know that person's a loser. Har har! You're an asshole, har har. No, seriously, don't watch for the sake of watching. Watch because you like the art and the artist. Keep it simple.

8) Meeting people in REAL LIFE is WAY BETTER than meeting someone online. Duh! Now you know how ugly your friend looks like in real life...

9) Screenshots... screenshots... screenshots. SCREENSHOTS MUST DIE! This is an ARTS site, not your 5-YEAR-OLD-KID-CAN-HAS-SPAM-HALO-OR-YOUR-GODDAMN-VIDEO-GAME-SHEEZNIT-POST-YOUR-SHEEZ site. Sorry if I am ranting, but our dear

has a hard time cleaning up the gallery because of deviation Miscats. So please... be considerate. And help him.

And finally...
10) Be devious, but follow the rules. Hey, that sounds so 2004-ish.
Account ManagementI have:
- 3 art trades to handle - of which 2 are purely art trades, and 1 of which is a collab.
- 1 pending commission status. Apologies, as I delayed only until now when I am more free. Forgive me.

- 2 pending artworks. 1 is a collab with my real life friend on a "severely messed up" superhero comic. And the other is a Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 parody.
Most importantly of all..1014 deviations and 161 messages to clear. Wee!

Have a safe week ahead, folks.

*insert Porky Pig saying "That's all, folks!"*
Signing out,
I.L

Commissions (anthro/cartoon/chibi): Open from 1st May 2009 to 10th May 2009. Please note me for inquiries. Rules subject to change.

Screenshots well... depends.
I think some are considered to be art if the artist positions it carefully enough.....

And that company that I wanted to find an internship with was something I applied during the stress-heavy exam period.
Guess what?
